Born and raised in San Diego, California,
Jan Anderson comes from a family that trained and showed American
Saddlebreds. Growing up, Jan has shown different breeds of
horses for many years and has years of experience
concentrating on exhibiting the Tennessee Walking horse.
Jan realized
in order to start a breeding program, more land and a closer proximity to
her trainer would be necessary.
In 1999 she
relocated Magnolia Farms to Stephenville, Texas to take advantage of
the lush pastures, abundant land, and the quiet rural farm
atmosphere required in order to breed quality mares and raise good
healthy colts.
This
location proved to be an excellent decision and endeavour for
Jan, resulting in a 2000 World & Reserve World Champion, by the name
of
Bad News Royal Rapture. In
addition, this mare has claimed National WHOA recognition as the
Light Shod Plantation Horse for 2001.
Jan now lives in Lewisburg, TN. and has a pretty house, a 10
stall barn and 20 acres for the broodmares.
A
functional 10 stall barn with wash rack, and foaling stalls and 18 acres
of pasture, woods abundant with deer and turkey.
The
turnouts are designed with 16 foot gates and the lane was made to ride
up and down. The lane also serves as a functional "herding" area for
young colts...I can open the gates and block the 16 foot lane as I move
horses around.
Lots of
trail riding and 25 more acres of leased hay fields, that are being
fertilized and maintained to produce the best horse hay possible.
